Every card maker I know is always looking for masculine card ideas! Can you relate?
In this video, I’m going to show you how you can use the SAME piece of paper on a card in 3 different ways!
You can use these 3 different ways to make masculine cards, or any kind of cards you’d like!
The piece of patterned paper we’re going to use on these cards is 3-1/4” x 5-1/2”
If you start with a piece of 12×12 patterned paper, you could get 6 of these pieces to make 6 cards.
Start by cutting at 5-1/2” – if your paper has an obvious up and down pattern, turn your paper on its side before cutting. (Watch the video above to see what I mean.)
Then cut three 3-1/4” pieces off that strip.
Okay, so now that we have these 3 pieces, here are 3 different ways you can use them on a card…
Soft Succulent card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
1. Put your piece all the way to the left edge of your card base
The die-cuts in the He’s the Man paper pack make it SO EASY to whip up a masculine card!
Early Espresso card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Early Espresso strip: 1/2″ x 4-1/4″ embossed with the Timber 3D folder
2. Leave a little border on the left edge of your card base
This will give your card a little different look and you can also add a strip of card stock, or even twine, across the bottom of your card front. My husband says to stay away from frilly ribbon on your masculine cards!
Give it a rustic look: Use a sponge dauber or blending brush to add some Crumb Cake ink to your paper.

Early Espresso: 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
3. Add a card stock mat behind your paper and center it on your card base.
Of course, you can add more layers and embellish each card as you like.
