Happy Spring! Change is coming, a freshness is in the air… and if you packed away your flower stamps for the winter it’s time to get them back out!!

Today I have 2 cards to share with you that I made with the Blossoming Basket Bundle from Stampin’ Up!

Full disclosure: These might be the only 2 cards I ever make with this basket of flowers stamp because that was a LOT of coloring. And I’m not a big fan of coloring. Next time I’m going to make something with the cute little butterfly in the stamp set because I think it’s going to look gorgeous stamped in a rainbow of colors.

I do however LOVE the Basket Weave Folder and am especially glad I tried it because who knew it was so easy to use the 3D Dynamic Embossing Folders?!?!! Not me. But now I’m onto them and will be using them a lot more. If you’ve never used them, here’s a 3D embossing folders video that shows just how easy it is.

Whisper White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Whisper White: 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
Calypso Coral: 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″
Peekaboo Peach: 4″ x 5-1/4″

Coloring Tips

  • For this basket of flowers I found that it was easiest to color the leaves first. Mostly because when I started with the flowers I kept accidentally coloring some of the leaves the color of the flowers. No big deal, but if you want all your leaves to be green then color them first!
  • I used a Blender Pen dipped into the ink in the lid of my ink pads to color in the basket of flowers. For the card above I used Calypso Coral on the flowers, Pear Pizzazz on the leaves, Peekaboo Peach on the sprigs of Baby’s Breath and Crumb Cake on the basket.
  • If you’ve never used Blender pens before, here’s a video that shows how: https://youtu.be/Uq9VgMe-hzs
  • Start light! You can always add more color but you can’t take it away.
  • Have patience! If you’re like me and don’t really like to color, this basket of flowers may not be for you.
  • Heat Emboss first! It’s easier to color if you heat emboss the basket image first using embossing powder. That will help you stay in the lines!

Whisper White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Whisper White: 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ and 3/4″ x 3″
Flirty Flaminto: 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″
Peekaboo Peach: 4″ x 5-1/4″

For this card I chose to use a bit lighter pink for the flowers. It’s amazing how many different looks you can get with one stamp by just changing the colors!

I also added a little Clear Wink of Stella on the baby’s breath and flower centers to give them a little shimmer.

But overall I used the same exact pieces I used in the first card and just flipped the orientation of the card and added the banner greeting. So many options!
