When I first saw the It’s a Celebration stamp set I knew it was going to make some fun cards. At first glance it’s a New Year’s set, but take a closer look because there is oh so much more you can do with it. My daughter Emily (she’s 10) helped me design this fun shaker card with it! This could be a birthday card or it could be sent for any occasion worth celebrating.

Melon Mambo: 3″ x 4-1/4″
Window Sheet: 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″
Whisper White: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
Pumpkin Pie card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″
Circle Size: 2-3/8″

Why is it called a shaker card? Because when you shake it the confetti in the middle moves around!

Tips for Making a Shaker Card:

First cut your circle out, then stamp. I used a circle framelit to cut a circle out of my Melon Mambo card stock, but you could also use a circle punch. After I cut the circle I stamped the little fireworks in Melon Mambo ink all over the Melon Mambo card stock.

Stamp the image that will show inside your shaker. That would be the “Celebrate” in Melon Mambo ink and the fireworks on the Whisper White card stock. I placed my Melon Mambo piece over my Whisper White card stock so that I would know where my stamped images needed to be. Then I stamped a small Melon Mambo firework over a larger Pumpin Pie firework and I lined them up perfectly using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I love that thing.

Create your card base. This card has a Pumpkin Pie card base that I stamped larger fireworks around the edges of with Pumpkin Pie ink. Tape the stamped Whisper White card stock to the center of your card base.

Add confetti. I used the Sprinkles Punch to create confetti with Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo card stock. I don’t know why they didn’t name this the Confetti Punch because that’s what I call it! When you use punched out paper like this, it’s easy to just pile it up on your paper and add the Window Sheet piece on top. If you are using glitter or beads in your shaker this card set up is a little harder to do.

Add a Window Sheet. Be sure to cut your Window Sheet large enough to cover your circle enough that you have room to put adhesive to hold it in place. I used Fast Fuse so it would really stick. This is also when I added the ribbon around my Melon Mambo piece.

Put Foam Strips around your shaker window. If you use a bigger piece of card stock like on this card you’ll also want to put a little foam in the corners so the main Melon Mambo piece is “even”.
