I’m not always a fan of coloring, and definitely don’t usually have the patience to color in detailed images like this one, but this stamp has a set of coordinating decorative masks that makes adding colors to the flowers and leaves SO EASY!!!

Life is busy at the moment, but I will be sharing a video soon showing you how easy it is to use the masks in the Layers of Beauty Bundle. In the meantime, I’ve got some quick tips for you below.

Layers of Beauty Card Making Tips:

  • For this card, I stamped the flowers in Night of Navy ink on Basic White card stock.
  • I found it easiest to stamp, add color with the masks, and then die-cut the image.
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the die-cut flowers really makes them pop off the white embossed background!
  • I needed a thank you card so I hunted through my stamp sets to find a “thank you” that would fit on the tag die from the Layers of Beauty dies. I found it in the Cutest Cow stamp set!

Layers of Beauty Decorative Mask Tips:

  • Use a temporary adhesive or post-it tape to keep your stamped paper in place.
  • After you line up Mask #1, use a pen to trace the notch in the mask so that you can easily line up the rest of the masks.
  • Use Post-It Tape to hold each mask in place as you use it.
  • For this card, I used a single blending brush to add the different colors of blue ink. Since I was only using shades of blue I didn’t clean my brush beyond gently wiping it over scratch paper.
Masks #1 and #4: Balmy Blue
Masks #2 and #5: Boho Blue
    Mask #3: Misty Moonlight
  • To clean the masks, I found it easiest to lay them flat on my grid paper and then gently wipe the ink off with my wet Simply Shammy and then gently dry with a tissue or paper towel. You want to be careful, especially around the more delicate parts of the masks that could be bent.
  • While I used shades of blue for this card, you can of course play around with lots of different color combinations!!!
