This card idea is for the dog lovers. It uses the fun animal stamp set Animal Talk and speaks “dog talk” for Happy Birthday. The colors and theme also make it a great card for men.
The word background on the Tempting Turquoise card stock was made using the same stamp as the main image. To stamp just the words and not the dog, you want to only put ink on the words carefully using an ink pad or a marker. Of course I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement of all those words, rotating the stamp to create a random pattern. (If you’re not sure how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig or don’t even know what it is, watch this video.)
Sponging Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the large circle gives it some extra depth. Sponging is one of the easiest ways to add extra color to your cards without adding bulk. It’s one of the 5 Stamping Techniques Every Card Maker Should Know!
The cute little pennant adds a lot to this card. It was created using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch. Just punch a triangle out of Crumb Cake card stock and add the smallest strip of Early Espresso card stock as the stick. The “Arroof” comes from the main dog image. Just use the brush-tip of the Early Espresso marker to ink up only that part of the stamp. (Using markers on your stamps is another one of the 5 Stamping Techniques Every Card Maker Should Know!) It’s usually easier to stamp first and then punch out so that you can center your punch around your stamped image.
