If you love pretty patterned papers, you may have stacks of them that you’re not quite sure what to do with. They are so pretty, can you even bring yourself to cut into them?

While a full sheet of patterned paper is pretty to look at, today I’ve got 6 cards to share with you that I made with the Flower & Field designer series paper pack from Stampin’ Up! that will hopefully inspire you to grab at least one of your pretty papers and cut it up to make cards with.

White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Flirty Flamingo: 4″ x 5-1/4″
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
Circle size: 1-7/8″

I love to cut my 12×12 patterned papers down into 3″ x 4″ pieces because you can use them in so many different ways AND you can make 12 cards out of ONE sheet!

White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Misty Moonlight: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3 D Embossing Folder
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
Oval size: 1-1/4″ x 2-1/4″

All 6 of these cards started with a 3″x4″ piece of pretty floral paper, but you can see that the cards look very different depending on the pattern of the paper and the colors of the card stock.

You can step the same card layout up by embossing your background card stock with an embossing folder and of course, you could also add ribbon and other embellishments as desired.

White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
So Saffron: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
Poppy Parade: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
Oval size: 1-1/4″ x 2-1/4″

The birthday cards above and below use my FAVORITE card layout for these 3″ x 4″ pieces.

You don’t have to emboss the background layer, but I really do love how it looks.

White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
So Saffron: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
Granny Apple Green: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
White banner: 1/2″ x 2-1/4″

Experiment with your different punch and die shapes.

You might be surprised by how something as simple as changing up the shape of your greeting piece can change the look of the card.

Petal Pink card base: 4-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ scored at 2-3/4″
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
Granny Apple Green: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″

You can even use these 3″ x 4″ pretty paper pieces on fun fold cards!

The easy fun fold above was created by simply cutting 2-3/4″ off the front of a card base that was made with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of card stock.

Petal Pink card base: 4-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ scored at 2-3/4″ front flap embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
Floral paper: 3″ x 4″
White: 3-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ scored 4-1/4″

This second fun fold uses the same card base as the previous card but has a smaller card on top that opens to the right.

Watch this video for a closer look at the cards and instructions on how to cut your pretty paper and make the fun folds…

Then go grab a piece of pretty paper, cut it up into 3″ x 4″ pieces and make some cards! And be sure to pin these ideas for later!

Your cards can be all the same (that’s a time saver!) or all different.

Happy Stamping!
