We had Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday… and now today is Giving Tuesday. I think today is my favorite because it highlights what the holiday season should really be about… Giving. And I don’t just mean giving piles of gifts that people don’t really need. I mean giving where it counts. Giving our time and money to care for those in need and to be an encouragement.
Today I’m giving a donation to something near and dear to my heart. I remember going to visit my friend and her new baby 12 years ago. Such an exciting time! I had a new 3 month old of my own. As I held baby Evie and talked to my friend, I learned that all was not well. So often we hear that people don’t care whether they have a boy or a girl “as long as the baby is healthy”. Well what if the baby isn’t healthy? It can be a stressful time filled with uncertainty.
As I held my dear sweet Evie for the first time I learned that not all was well. In the following months and years she would be diagnosed with a rare disease called WAGR Syndrome, have numerous eye surgeries and go through chemotherapy. Through it all she has kept a beautiful smile, always has a hug ready for me and brings a HUGE smile to my face when I see her singing praise songs with her hands lifted high to God.
The internet is an amazing thing. It has the power to connect people all around the world. People struggling with things that make them think they are alone. The International WAGR Syndrome Association helps bring families together to know that they are not alone in dealing with this rare disease.
I’d like to give more. Today for Giving Tuesday, I’m going to extend my Black Friday Specials and give you 50% off my Christmas ebooks, Holiday One Sheet Wonder Class and One Sheet Wonder mini Class for one more day.
ALL proceeds from ebooks and classes purchased today will be donated to Inspired by Evie in support of the International WAGR Syndrome Association. You save, I give… it’s a win, win!!
Whether you participate in my Giving Tuesday special or not, I hope that you will take the opportunity today to give to something that’s important to you. Together we can all make a difference.
