Have you ever wondered how to emboss the entire front of your card base?
Sometimes you want your embossed pattern to cover your entire card front, but trying to figure out how to do that can be tricky.
In this video, I’m going to show you 2 different ways that you can emboss a full card front…
1) Create your card base and emboss the front of it.
I’d recommend using a lighter embossed pattern like these raindrops…
Flirty Flamingo card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Patterned Paper: 3″ x 4″
Mango Melody: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
Since the Raindrops embossing folder has an obvious up/down pattern, if you want them to look like rain, you’ll really need to think about which way to put your card front into your folder. (Watch the video above for tips.)
BE CAREFUL that you don’t run the fold of your folder against the side of the machine. That can break it.
This first option will work with many dies but some embossing folders with a heavy pattern will really warp the front of your card base.
2) Emboss a piece of 4-1/4”x 5-1/2” piece of card stock and then tape it onto a card front.
Flirty Flamingo card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Patterned Paper: 3″ x 4″
Mango Melody: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
This method works better when you have a denser pattern that can warp your card stock.
When you tape it down it will smooth it right out.
With this option, I like to use a white card base because white on the inside of cards makes it easier to write on and easier for the recipient to read your message.
TIP: Use a forgiving adhesive like glue to tape it to your card front.
