Sometimes the number of tools you think you need to make a card can be overwhelming but one of my favorite techniques doesn’t require any tools at all!

Basic White card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Patterned Paper: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
Early Espresso: 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″
Circle: 2″

In this video, I’m going to show you one of my favorite card making techniques that’s quick and easy to do with just your fingers…

The torn edge technique is great for masculine cards because it looks rugged.

You can do it on plain card stock or you can emboss your card stock with an embossing folder first.

Tips for Creating a Torn Edge:

  • Decide where you want your torn edge to be – you can go straight across, at an angle, or make it as wavy as you’d like.
  • Position your paper between your thumbs and gently work your way down, tearing as you go.
  • NOTE: Stampin’ Up! card stock is colored all the way through but some card stock may have a white core.
  • If you’re feeling adventurous you can do a quick tear and see what happens, but I like to go slow.
  • You can do one edge of your card stock, two edges, or all four.

That’s it, now you have a torn edge to use on your card. I hope you’ll give it a try!

Happy Stamping!
