My Christmas Cards and a Coluzzle Tip

By | Christmas | No Comments

I have been busy stamping and scrapping Christmas presents, which is why I haven’t posted any samples this week.  I don’t want to ruin any surprises!  I’ll be sure to post pictures after my gifts have been given. This week I’ve also been writing Christmas cards and hope to have them all in the mail soon.  I started stamping them in September this year and finished them in October – all thanks to the ladies craft & chat weekends at my church.  So instead of rushing to get my cards done I have been leisurely writing heartfelt notes in my…

I love FREE stamps!

By | Techniques | No Comments

Just before Thanksgiving I received a surprise package from Stampin’ Up!  Inside was a new stamp set with a nice note from Shelli, the CEO and co-founder.  What an awesome surprise! The card shown here was made with the Emboss Resist Technique.  Here’s directions on how to create this effect: 1. Stamp your image with clear ink on glossy card stock. 2. Add clear embossing powder and heat. 3. Use a small piece of sponge to rub ink onto each flower.  The embossed flowers will resist the ink and remain white. Try it!

Through THIS FRIDAY, November 30th, Stampin’ Up! is donating 100 percent of the sales worldwide from the All in the Family stamp set to the Dave Abbott Family Fund.  Dave Abbott, the Australia General Manager for Stampin’ Up! passed away from a rare blood disease.  This is one of the sets that my daughter wanted immediately when the catalog came out last July.  I thought it was cute, but wasn’t sure about matching up all those little pieces!  This promotion gave me the perfect excuse to order it and I am so glad that I did.  Not only did I help…

Have you ever tried to dry emboss dark card stock using a light table?  It is almost impossible to see through dark heavy card stock!  Here’s a great technique for dry embossing on dark card stock: 1. Stamp an image onto the card stock.  For the sample shown here I used the swirl from Season of Joy.  You want to select a detail image will look good even if you don’t get all the details just right. 2. Lay the card stock on a foam pad with the stamped image face up.  Cover the card stock with wax paper. …

6×6 Scrapbook Calendar

By | Scrapbooking | No Comments

This layout is from the 6×6 Desktop Calendar that I am making for a Christmas gift.  The two sided design makes flipping the pages a little confusing sometimes, so I always use post-it notes and the template that comes with the calendar to label the pages before I start.  I also like to use matching Designer Series paper on the pages for a month.  That makes it easy for the recipient to know which scrapbook page goes with which month. To make this monochromatic page, I used the Flowers for You Designer Series paper with Regal Rose card stock and…
