If you’re not sure where to start when making a card, a card sketch is a perfect place!
A card sketch is a pattern for making a card.
I’ve included measurements on this card sketch to make it even easier for you, but if you don’t like to measure you don’t have to use them!
A card sketch is a great place to start because you can use it with ANY supplies that you have.
The sketch is really just a starting point and you can adjust it however you want as you choose your supplies and make your card.
Here are 2 cards that I made with this sketch…
Tahitian Tide card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Tahitian Tide card stock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Hive 3D folder
Basic White: 2-3/4″ x 3-1/4″
Orchid Opulence: 3″ x 3-1/2″
You’ll notice that I used a lot of the same supplies to make both of these cards, I just switched up the main images.

Sketch #7 Card Tips:
- Use patterned paper or stamp your own background for the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece.
- Make the same card using different colors of ink and card stock.
- Use different colors of card stock for your embossed background and card base.
- Try using a different shape instead of a rectangle for your main image. A circle would be an easy replacement, but check your die or punch shape to see what else would work.
- Step up your card by adding embellishments.
- Wrap ribbon around the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece and tie a knot or bow to the left of the main image
Your turn! Make a card using this card sketch and supplies that you have.
Be sure to take a photo of your card so you can share it during our weekly Sunday night Show & Tell on my Facebook page.
Then send your card to a friend. You’ll make their day!
Happy Stamping!
